Page 1 of 3 The purpose of this project is to get a very old remote control airplane trainer up and flying again. This airframe was donated about three or four years ago. At that time it was equipped with a very old .40 engine that was seized. The electronics in it were based on obsolete AM radio equipment that is no longer allowed to fly do to radio interference problems. At this time the engine has been replaced with one of the .46 OS FX engines from the APP-01 project, also the radio equipment has been transferred over to this project. During the process of moving servos over it was discovered that three of the servers were significantly damaged in the APP-01 crash. Both throttle servos from APP-01 were damaged, one was destroyed and the other one had severe gear train damage. The rudder server also suffered sever gear train damage. The gearing in these latter two servos has been repaired and they are currently functioning normally. Once this airframe is up and running again, it will be used to re-gain flight experience with remote controlled aircraft. Hopefully this will help in the design and operation of APP-02. |
