This is the follow on vehicle to the failed APP-01 project. The purpose of this project just like the APP-01, is to build a small remote controlled aircraft capable of carrying airborne, a Canon S100 SX camera for the purposes of imaging the earth beneath.
Much was learned from the failures of the APP-01 project, most notably involving the poor design choices that lead to the loss of control of the vehicle and the resulting crash. This project officially commenced in the last week of November. The formal design has been progressing with the fuselage being the first section in development. Currently much is being learned about the design of airframes. No other project to date has required as much structural detail. Much brainstorming is currently being done on how to integrate all the pieces together. A unified structure is currently being designed where all the pieces will interlock together, however the wings will have to be removable. |
